About Haico Nitzsche
Haico Nitzsche is a German-Danish ceramicist, best known for his work at Søholm Keramik on Bornholm, where he was production manager in the 1970s. Originally from the GDR, he worked in Sweden at Gustavsberg before moving to Denmark in 1974. At Søholm, Nitzsche helped create a number of distinctive ceramic works, including lamps and stoneware bowls, often characterized by robust forms and simple glazes. His work was appreciated for both its functionality and aesthetics, and many of his pieces are still traded as vintage designs.
After his time at Søholm, he established his own studio on Bornholm, where he continued to create unique ceramic works, often with inspiration from the Japanese tenmoku technique, which can be seen in some of his glazes.
