A stylish pewter dish with fish shaped finial, designed by the Danish jeweller and sculptor Just Andersen in the 1930s. The fish is beautifully but simply modelled and has a definite Art Deco feel. The base bears the impressed Just Andersen mark and a serial number. This piece is in good condition with minor wear commensurate with its age.

Sculptor and silversmith Just Andersen is known for his candlesticks, vases and figures in pewter, brass and copper. He trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. After completing his studies, he designed works for Georg Jensen and in 1918 opened his own silversmith company. His works are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, among others.
